Now to the real story (at Daniel's request)...
Let me begin by saying, I LOVE Christmas Trees. Particularly, REAL Christmas trees. The look, the smell, the pomp and circumstance surrounding picking one out and decorating it. I already have alot of guilt about how many trees are cut down each year for such a brief time of enjoyment in our homes. But, for the first time, Daniel burned our tree after the holidays...and it scared me. Our tree had been sitting out in the elements, including heavy rains, the day before we burned it. The pictures below were seriously taken over about a 30second time period.

Daniel and I considered getting a live tree (rather than a cut tree) this year, but the live tree in it's small little pot was a little depressing. I feel bad about all the beautiful Furs that have already been cut- does letting them go to waste really prevent more trees from being cut the next year? I am very torn on this issue, but can you imagine if the above happened while the tree was still in your house? I guess you can't live in fear, but, i think seeing the above has added fuel to my anti-cut Christmas trees stance.

I like how the flame was so big and bright that the solar lights turned off. This , to me, is a very cool part of getting a real tree. Although, i would like to plant a real one too. Solution: get both!
I wish I could have been there for this event. I bet it was hilariously scary all at the same time. Does that make sense?
We have ours ontop of a brush pile to burn....maybe we should call the fire dept before we light it. You have provided very valuable information. Thanks.
I too feel bad for the already cut trees that aren't used. I also feel sorry for me when I have to clean up all the crap that falls off the tree while taking it out of the house.
Rachel, if I find another tree to burn, will you come visit?
for another show like that-i will come visit!
